What do you believe makes a company/organization/startup successful?

Vision. Passion. Ethics. Pushing Limits.

Vision - you have to know what you want to create and where you are going.
Passion - you need to be passionate and have a burning desire for what you are doing on a daily basis.
Ethics - you have to have the moral compass to do the right things.
Pushing Limits - if you want to change the world, then you have to be crazy enough to believe that you actually can. Everyday you have to push the limits on what is possible.

What are the first steps?

The first step for any entrepreneur with an idea is to pitch it to a potential client. Lots of people waste time writing business plans, making presentations, and financial projections. Few actually get their product in front of a potential user. But, it's the latter that actually counts. The first version of Facebook was launched overnight. The first version of Windows had more bugs than some countries in Africa. But, it's the ability to put the product in front of customers that actually got the momentum going.

What are your secrets of success?

I believed in myself when no one, not even my parents, believed in me. Running a company is a roller coaster of emotions and only if you believe in yourself will you be able to survive the ride. There were a lot of dark moments for Virool, and many times when I considered throwing in a towel. However, I believed in myself and persevered.
